The Coleraine Art and Photography Show is considered one of the area's premier events attracting both entry level and experienced exhibitors. A little bit of background history: the Coleraine Art Group was formed in 1980 with fourteen foundation members and held its first exhibition that same year. The Coleraine Art Group held its last annual exhibition in 2007 and the Coleraine and District Development Association Inc. took over the challenge of continuing the exhibitions. The Coleraine Art and Photography Show is now run as a not-for-profit event with a dedicated committee of local volunteers channeling their efforts back into the local community. We have open, young artist, secondary student and primary student sections in both art and photography. Our generous sponsors make cash prizes possible for our entrants and the Southern Grampians Shire support our advertising. The Coleraine and District Action Group provide setting up and dismantling and each year a local school caters for our Gala Evening and the Coleraine and District cater for the weekend's exhibition. Programmes are printed by St Joseph's Primary, Coleraine. Coleraine Chocolate Factory provide a sweet reward for our local Merino, Coleraine Primary and St Joseph's students. It truly is a community art show.
The 2024 Coleraine Art and Photography Show committee welcome last year's guest artist Megan Lonsdale as the donor of this year's raffle prize. Our guest artist and Art and Photography judges are to be confirmed. This year entry forms are due on the 26th of July. The Gala evening will be held on Friday the 9th of August and entries will be available for viewing on Saturday the 10 and Sunday the 11th. Art works and photographs are to be picked up after close of viewing on the Sunday. Our venue remains the Mechanic's Hall, Coleraine.
