The 1946 Flood

The 1946 Flood

I was there in the 1946 flood. At 2am there was a knock on the door with the cry, 'Everybody out! Put on lots of clothes because who knows when you'll be back'. We got dressed and opened the door. Whoosh! In came the floodwaters. Afterwards, the flood marks on the wallpaper stayed there for as long as I can remember.
