The Swagmen

The Swagmen

We used to have 'swaggies' camping under the bridge during the Depression in the nineteen-thirties. Some of them were only boys my own age. They had a rolled up grey rug and some had those old pushbikes. They always had a billy on the boil. They would go to the bakers shop and get stale bread.
