Walking around Coleraine

Striped Legless Lizard

Striped Legless Lizard

The Striped Legless Lizard found around the Coleraine district is an endangered, long, thin, legless reptile often mistaken for a snake. They are a grey-brown colour on the top with pronounced side stripes along the body.
They appear during the day, but spend most of their time out of sight in grass tussocks or cracks in the ground, or under rocks.
